What a miserable time this is for many of us this coming Christmas. Be safe and have a good a time you can with family and friends. This seems generally the best that we can do in what should be great family get together. Hoping for better times. Sadly, I shall be missing the one special person that I was with for 23+ years.
A thank you to those who have identified my mystery plants recently. Gardening wise, not much to report really. so I’ll give a brief look at my collection of houseplants, instead. Here is my Six on Saturday for what might be last of the 2020.
1) Calathea Rufibarba. This is a favourite. It has velvet like underneath the leaves. A very interesting plant for it’s leaf colouring and the tactile feel it has too.

2) Philodendron White Measure. An interesting fleshy leaved plant with creamy white veined leaves

3) Calatheas ornata Sanderiana. A new addition as of yesterday. Large green waxy leaves with the pink veining on the upper side of the leaves but a dark red-brown underneath.

4) Dracaena Fragrans Lemon Lime. This is somewhat different from the usual Dragon tree. It has bright green almost like lime colouring on the outer edges of the leaves. Especially noticeable when the leaves of fresh and new growth.

5) Sansevieria Trifasciata. Here are some other names this house plant is know for – snake plant, Saint George’s sword, mother-in- law’s tongue, and viper’s bowstring hemp, among other names.

6) Spathiphyllum Peace Lily. Finally, the common house plant, at least in Britain. Grows in the wild of tropical areas. Had a Peace Lily for many years until no amount of nurturing would keep it from dying off. This plant arrived with brown markings on the flowers and damaged leaves, this is due to poor handling by the packers and the delivery company. No doubt given time it will produce better looking flowers and leaves.

That’s this weeks Six on Saturday. Whatever you’re doing be safe and ensure that you enjoy your gardening. Of course as always our host of Six on Saturday is The Propagator. Pop over to see the delights on his blog and blogs from around the world. Until the next #SixonSaturday, all the best. Wishing you all a very happy time yet a safe holiday period from the dreaded disease that is failing to go away.
May pop in with the odd Post of the Day, too. Go on do have a look.
Christmas often brings sadness with it, unfortunately. I hope the season goes well for you.

I love all your houseplants, especially the calatheas. I have one in my bathroom. It struggled everywhere else in the house but really likes the humidity in there. Wishing you a Happy Christmas. It’s a poignant time of year.

Thank you. I do the best I can with the house plants. I have a friend says must have the way with plants as she says she just kills them off!
Some of the house plants are new so they do look good, for now 🙂 Have a great Christmas and best wishes for a better 2021, too.
