Autumn has really set in and this is getting me down a little. It doesn’t normally but these times for me personally are different. Getting out in the garden is a great boon to me and there’s plenty to do. I did get on with clearing more of the garden that had piles of Hebe branches and brambles. There’s to be a new area similar to the the cleared area in front of the Hebe, though bigger, eventually, a little further along the border. This will start the shaping of the garden from what was rectangular into something more interesting. At least I hope interesting. This week it’s mostly new plants. Let’s get on with Six on Saturday.

1) Hellebores. New, to me, three varieties H. Harvington, Double Cream Spleckled, Double Yellow Speckled and Double Lilac Speckled. The theme here, well they are speckled and they are double. Looking forward to some new hellebores.

2) Garden view from the house. Messy but there’s some changes that will make for abetter look in the Spring. May be even earlier if those new Hellebores flower okay. Clearing of another area still in progress, this can seen beyond the dug area. Plenty to do, therefore, many opportunities for new plants.

3) Brunnera macrophylla. Jack Frost. New, again to me, however this was given to me recently as a plant that was was split up from the group in their garden and grown on in this pot. A great introduction to my garden of few plants of this type, which I’ll hopefully have a good planting area.

4) Clematis Flammula, Sweet Summer Love. So new not removed the packaging. This clematis has small purple flowers that will cover the plant with many of these small flowers. Said to give off the scent of vanilla, viola and stocks. Should be an interesting plant as it matures over the years. Not decided as to whether it goes in the ground or a pot.

5) That Autumn Look. The red of the flowering cherry, gold of the silver birch and the yellow of the plum tree. Oh, a couple of trees that are still green, in parts.With the wind today it’s not surprising that a lot of leaves will be on the ground. This was taken yesterday (Friday).

6) Phlox, okay it’s past it’s best but it’s another plant that’s be donated. This Phlox is quite tall, I’ve therefore, got to fit this one into the planting scheme carefully. (Planting scheme, where did that idea come from)? It’ll work out ok, I’m sure it will.

It’s that time of year again where we put the clocks back one hour, don’t forget. It makes the day so much shorter and darker therefore it’s time to look at what’s new in the gardening world.
